How AI Troubleshooting Works
The AI behind MyTech-Fix
MyTech-Fix is powered by Claude, Anthropic's AI. Claude is used for its strong performance on technical tasks and its ability to explain complex topics in plain, accessible language — which matters when someone is frustrated and standing next to a broken printer.
How context is built before you even type
Before you send your first message, the AI already has context:
Device profile — if you've saved devices to your profile, the AI knows your router model, printer brand, smart home setup, and other relevant details. You don't need to re-explain your setup each time.
Diagnostic data — if you've run a network diagnostic recently, your speed, ping, latency, and connection details are automatically included. The AI can say "your latency is 340ms which points to congestion on the 2.4GHz band" rather than asking you to describe your performance.
Session history — the AI can reference previous conversations, so if you've troubleshot this device before, it knows what was already tried.
How the AI generates a fix
The AI follows a structured diagnostic approach:
- Identifies the most likely causes based on device type and context
- Asks clarifying questions if needed to narrow down the cause
- Generates fix steps ordered by likelihood — starting with the quickest resolution
- Adapts based on your responses — if step 2 doesn't work, it adjusts
Fix steps are specific to your device model and operating system where possible.
What the AI cannot do
MyTech-Fix works best for software configuration, connectivity, and settings-level issues. It cannot:
- Physically repair hardware (though it can help identify if a repair is needed)
- Access your devices directly or make changes on your behalf
- Guarantee a fix for every issue — some problems require hardware replacement or ISP involvement
- Diagnose issues on devices it has no information about
If the AI cannot resolve your issue, it will say so clearly and suggest next steps — including when to contact your ISP or a repair service.
