Firmware and Security Alerts
Types of alerts
Firmware update available — a newer firmware version exists for your device. These are batched into a weekly email digest unless the update specifically addresses a security issue.
Security advisory (CVE) — a security vulnerability has been published for your device model. These are sent immediately as individual alerts, not batched — security issues are time-sensitive.
End-of-life warning — your device's manufacturer has announced an end-of-support date. You'll receive this at 6 months and 3 months before the date.
Battery reminder — a periodic reminder to check the battery on battery-powered devices.
WiFi degradation — your recent network performance has dropped significantly below your 30-day baseline.
Alert severity
Critical / High — security vulnerabilities with a high CVSS score. Act on these promptly — they represent real risks to your network or data.
Medium — security advisories with lower severity, or firmware updates with significant bug fixes. Address within a few days.
Info — routine firmware updates, battery reminders, end-of-life warnings with plenty of lead time, WiFi degradation notices. Address when convenient.
What each alert includes
Each notification contains:
- A plain-English explanation of the issue and why it matters
- The specific firmware version available (for firmware alerts)
- The CVE ID and severity rating (for security alerts)
- Step-by-step instructions for installing the update on your specific device
- A link to open a chat session with the alert context pre-loaded if you need help
Where alerts appear
All alerts appear in the notification center — the bell icon in the navigation. Critical and high severity alerts are also sent as individual emails immediately. Lower severity alerts are batched into your weekly or monthly digest depending on your preferences.
