Adding Your First Device

Why device memory matters

When you save a device to your profile, the AI remembers it across every conversation. Instead of explaining your full setup each time, you just describe the problem and the AI already has your context — giving specific guidance for your exact device model rather than generic advice.

How to add a device

  1. Go to Devices in the navigation
  2. Click Add Device
  3. Select the device category (WiFi & Networking, Printers, Smart Home, etc.)
  4. Enter the brand and model — be specific ("Eero 6" not just "Eero")
  5. Optionally add a nickname, purchase date, and whether it's battery-powered
  6. Click Save

The AI will now reference this device automatically in relevant conversations.

What to add first

Start with the devices you're most likely to need help with:

  • Your router or mesh system
  • Any printers
  • Smart home hubs or thermostats
  • Security cameras
  • Computers (include the OS version in the model field)

Maintenance monitoring starts automatically

Once a device is added, MyTech-Fix automatically monitors it for firmware updates and security advisories. You'll receive a notification if a new firmware version is available or if a security vulnerability is published for your device model. See How Device Monitoring Works for details.
